How to find a good Survival server
A good survival server feels like vanilla with the annoying parts fixed: your base is protected, you can set a home, and there are players around to trade with. If you want something even closer to single player with friends, an SMP might suit you better.
How to join
Java Edition
On Java: open Multiplayer, click Add Server, paste the IP and save, then double-click the server.
Bedrock Edition
On Bedrock: go to Play, then Servers, scroll down to Add Server and enter the IP and port (usually 19132). On consoles you can join the featured servers directly.
Questions
What’s the difference between a survival server and an SMP?
They overlap. Survival servers are usually bigger and use more plugins; SMPs tend to be smaller communities.
