What to look for in a Ark server host
Ascended needs more power
ARK: Survival Ascended needs a much stronger server than ARK: Survival Evolved. Check which one the plan is for.

How to set up a Ark server
Choose ARK
Pick a plan and choose Survival Ascended or Survival Evolved.
Pick the map
The Island, Scorched Earth and the rest. Start on the one your tribe wants.
Set rates and passwords
Rates live in GameUserSettings.ini, along with the server and admin passwords.
Join
Find your server by name in the Unofficial tab of the server browser.

Questions
Is ARK: Survival Ascended harder to host?
Yes. It needs noticeably more memory and CPU than Survival Evolved, so pick a bigger plan.
